For the first time in three years, the mountain will be alive with the sound of Oktoberfest.

German food and beer fans are rejoicing at the news that one of the Hudson Valley's most popular Oktoberfest celebrations is back up and running. During the pandemic, the Bear Mountain Oktoberfest was forced to take some time off, but now it's back and promising to be even more festive than ever.

The free event will take place during the four weekends of October, including Columbus Day. It will feature authentic beer, food and music in a beautiful setting at the Anthony Wayne Recreation Area just off the Palisades Parkway.

The Oktoberfest celebration includes great German bands such as The Adlers, Alpine Squeeze, The Bratwurst Boys and 18-time Grammy winner Jimmy Sturr and his orchestra. Bear Mountain will also be cooking up all of the food themselves including bratwurst, knockwurst, schnitzel and giant pretzels.

Of course, no Oktoberfest would be complete without beer, and there will be plenty to go around. A beer truck will be set up and there will also be wine and seltzers available. For those who want to really look the part, authentic German beer steins are available for pre-purchase and they even include one pour of beer.

You can also purchase parking in advance, as well as the wildly popular Bear Mountain Oktoberfest T-shirt. And for those who really want the full Oktoberfest experience, a VIP ticket will include a shirt, stein, access to a special VIP section and unlimited food and beer. If that doesn't make you want to put on some lederhosen and raise your glass, I don't know what will.

This family-friendly event will be happening on the first four weekends of October and Columbus Day, so mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate. For more details and to pre-purchase parking, shirts, steins or VIP packages visit the Bear Mountain website.
