Police: Man Impersonating Officer Performs Traffic Stop on I-84

The man identified himself as both an off-duty Rockland County Police Officer and Poughkeepsie Police Officer.  

Christopher S. Kirkpatrick, 27, of Wawayanda was arrested and charged Criminal Impersonation first-degree.

Kirkpatrick was traveling westbound on I-84 in the Town of Wawayanda, when he stopped a motorist and identified himself as both an off-duty Rockland County Police Officer and Poughkeepsie Police Officer.

Kirkpatrick was operating a green 2002 Ford F150 pickup at the time of the incident.

He was also in possession of a portable radio, handcuffs, and white LED strobe lights attached to the visor of his vehicle.

Kirkpatrick was released with appearance tickets for a future court date.
