A Ulster County man was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street, and ended up being the one who got ticketed.

Do yourself a favor, and use the crosswalk and pedestrian signal if you're trying to cross the street. Otherwise, you'll get hit by a car and then receive tickets from the police to add insult to injury.

Saugerties Police responded to a report of a car pedestrian accident on Friday evening. Upon an initial investigation, police determined that Clint Murphy, 52,  of Saugerties walked into the street outside of the designated crosswalk, and against the pedestrian traffic signal.

Murphy reported to officers that he did not  utilized the crosswalk or the crosswalk indicator device to cross the street as is required by law. Murphy was treated at the scene by paramedics, and transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Murphy was ticketed for disobeying New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws: Pedestrian failing to yield the Right Of Way to a vehicle, Crossing at other than a crosswalk, and disobeying pedestrian do not walk indicator device.
