New York Continues to Lead Country in Known Coronavirus Cases

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced over 220 more confirmed cases of COVID-19, including more cases in a number of counties in the Hudson Valley.

During a press conference Monday morning, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced over 220 more confirmed cases of novel coronavirus, bringing the statewide total to 950 confirmed cases in New York State. 17 percent of those infected are hospitalized, according to Cuomo. Seven New Yorkers have died from COVID-19, officials say.

New York continues to lead the country in known coronavirus cases. Washington is second with 676 confirmed cases, according to Gov. Cuomo's office.

Cuomo also announced more confirmed coronavirus cases in Westchester, Ulster, Orange, Dutchess and Rockland counties.

There are now 220 confirmed cases in Westchester County, 16 in Rockland County, 11 in Orange County, 10 in Dutchess County and 7 in Ulster County.

• New York City: 463 Cases (134 New)
• Westchester County: 220 Cases (24 New)
• Nassau County: 109 Cases (11 New)
• Suffolk County: 63 Cases (16 New)
• Rockland County: 16 Cases (3 New)
• Albany County: 12 Cases (4 New)
• Orange County: 11 Cases (5 New)
• Dutchess County: 10 Cases (3 New)
• Monroe County: 9 Cases (7 New)
• Ulster County: 7 Cases (2 New)

On Sunday, Putnam and Greene counties joined other counties in the region with confirmed cases of coronavirus.

On Sunday, the CDC recommended all large events or mass gatherings be canceled or postponed for the next two months.  The World Health Organization wants everyone to follow these five simple steps to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

All restaurants, bars, gyms and movie theaters in New York State, as well as in New Jersey and Connecticut, must close by Monday at 8 p.m.
