A Columbia County man was arrested for DWI, after he fled and led police on a chase. 

Adam G. Kane, 35, of Hudson, NY was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, and Reckless Driving.

State Troopers were patrolling Route 9, when they observed a cargo van traveling over 70 miles per hour in 55 mile per hour zone. The operator of the vehicle, Kane,  failed to comply with the police cruiser's lights and sirens and continued driving.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop in front of a fire house. As officers approached vehicle, Kane took of at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to stop the vehicle, at which point Kane exited the vehicle and actively resisted arrest. An investigation revealed that Kane was intoxicated at the time of the stop.

Kane provided a breath sample that revealed a BAC of .18%, more than two times the legal limit. He was also charge with possessing approximately 2.8 grams of marijuana.

Kane was arraigned and sent to Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, or $10,000 bond.
