Shoppers at a Hudson Valley Walmart were terrified to be evacuated from the building during a busy shopping day and now two individuals are under arrest.

On Sunday, several law enforcement agencies descended upon a Hudson Valley Walmart and evacuated all shoppers and staff from the building. The chaotic scene happened on during a busy weekend day, when Walmart is traditionally packed with families shopping for groceries and necessary items. The panic was the result of two men who entered the store and claimed to be carrying an explosive device.

Hudson Valley Walmart Evacuated

K9 units trained to sniff out explosive devices were released into the Rockland County Walmart on Route 59 in Airmont on Sunday. Joined by law enforcement agencies from the surrounding area, they conducted a thorough sweep of the building and determined that there were no bombs planted in the store. Detectives from the Ramapo Police Department immediately began an investigation into the two unknown individuals who were suspected of making the false threat.

Suspects Identified and Arrested in Walmart Bomb Scare

Authorities with the help of the FBI Task Force, The New York State Intelligence Center and several Rockland County agencies were able to quickly identify two men who are alleged to have made the bomb threat on Sunday. Both 21-year-old Francky Charles from Spring Valley and 22-year-old Roosevelt Depas from Nyack were arrested and charged with felonies for making a terroristic threat.

The two men were released without bail and are scheduled to appear in court to face the charges.
