Hudson Valley Pet Rescue Receives $20,000 from Petco Foundation
If you didn't know, the Hudson Valley is extremely active when it comes to finding families for rescued animals. There are several rescues around the Valley and one of them received a huge honor over the weekend.
The Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County, CARE of DC, hosts pet adoption events every Saturday at Petco in Poughkeepsie. Families from all over the Hudson Valley come out to possibly find their new furry family member. Whether it be dog, cat, hamster, bird or goats the CARE of DC tries to get these animals to a great home.
On Saturday, May 18th CARE of DC, which is run by Karen LeCain, was honored for all of their hard work. According to their Facebook page, they were the recipients of a $20,000 check from the Petco Foundation, who thanked them for everything they do for these rescues.
CARE of DC then thanked the backbone of their organization: the volunteers. They wrote:
We are so grateful to have such amazing supporters and of course our volunteers! They choose to give up their Saturdays to help our animals get homes! We wouldn’t be able to do this without them. You are all such a crucial part of making this rescue work! We love and appreciate all of you.
If you would like to meet some of the rescues CARE of DC is at Petco in Poughkeepsie every Saturday from 11am until 4pm. They will also be hosting Wine with your Canine at Benmarl Winery and Vineyard in Marlboro on June 2nd.
In addition, their Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess county Thrift Shop & Pet Adoptions shop will be opening up next week at 1 Commerce Court in Wappingers.
