Hudson Valley On The Move For Thanksgiving
Will you be traveling this Thanksgiving? It's expected to be the busiest holiday weekend in terms of travel in more than a decade so Hudson Valley travelers should be ready to sit in some traffic.
AAA reports that nearly 51 million Americans will hit the road at some point this week. That is a 3% increase over 2016. According to AAA senior vice president Bill Sutherland, 'A strong economy and consumer confidence are driving the increase.'
Here are some more Thanksgiving travel stats according to AAA.
- 89% of all Thanksgiving travel will be by car. That translates to approximately 45 million people
- 3.9 million people will be traveling by plane this year.
- 1.4 million people will travel via train.
- Gas prices are the highest they've been since 2014.
