A Hudson Valley man who robbed a local gas station, stole a man's car and ran over the victim was sentenced.

On Friday in Orange County Court, 35-year-old Anthony Abbott of Poughkeepsie was sentenced to 14 years in prison following a January 2018 gas station robbery where he also injured a man in the parking lot of a New Windsor Speedway station.

Jan 2, Abbott entered the Speedway on Windsor Highway in New Windsor, stole several cans of Red Bull and fled the store.

He then got into the victim's car who just pulled up to a gas pump. After a brief struggle, Abbott drove the car over the man and dragged him some distance through the parking lot, before fleeing.

The man suffered many injuries including a broken hip, fractured femur and a missing tooth, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office. The victim was hospitalized at St. Luke’s Hospital for several days.
