Can you see why I'm angry about this package of Pringles Sour Cream and Onion chips?

Probably not. And that's exactly the point.

While enjoying lunch on Sunday I noticed my wife squinting and staring at a can of Pringles. After looking very closely at the can she shrugged and put it down. Curious, I grabbed the Pringles to figure out what she was looking at. After a few moments, I finally saw it for myself and immediately laughed. Then, that laughter turned into anger.

No one in their right mind thinks that Pringles is healthy. Those perfectly formed chips come in a shape that does not exist in nature. Obviously, there's some major processing and science behind the production of Pringles. So, if someone told me that Pringles sour cream and onion chips didn't actually contain sour cream or onions I would probably reply with a witty "no, duh."

That's why I was so angered to see that Pringles is blatantly trying to hide the fact that their chips are "flavored" and not really Sour Cream and Onion.  Take a closer look at the can and see what I mean.

The idea of hiding the word "flavored" on food packaging isn't new. Almost any processed food that you buy has the word "flavored" in a smaller font below the actual flavor it's trying to taste like. But I've never seen a company so blatantly trying to lie about the ingredients of their product.

It's one thing to make the font smaller, or draw your attention away from the court-ordered label of "flavored." But to purposefully try to trick customers into not seeing it at all is downright dishonest. The dark green lettering on a slightly less dark green background is almost impossible to see with the naked eye, and I don't even have color blindness. Not only is it blatantly dishonest, but it's also a bit insulting. As a consumer, I don't like being made out to be a chump, and that's exactly the message Pringles is sending out by pulling a fast one like this.

We reached out to Pringles to see what they had to say about this ridiculous packaging ploy and they have yet to reply.  In the meantime, I'm curious to find out what you think. Did Pringles go too far with the packaging of their Sour Cream and Onion chips? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
