Simba, the famous K9 from the Monroe Police Department, has been busy.

This past weekend, on Saturday June 10, Simba took part in the USPCA Region 7 PD-1 Certification Trials according to a Facebook post. There were 21 other K9's from New York and Connecticut competing in the trials that took place at the Ulster County K9 facility in Stormville, New York. Simba came out of the trials a star winning 5 awards throughout the day.

Simba along with his handler Officer Gayler took home trophies for 2nd place in overall competition and agility as well as 3rd place trophies for criminal apprehension, obedience and scent detection. Since Officer Gayler and Simba placed so highly they will be taking their skills to Foley, Alabama this August for the 2017 National Patrol Dog PDI Field Trials and Certification.

Simba made headlines when he was given a bullet and stab proof vest back in November that was donated through the organization Vested Interest in K9s.
