An Ulster County man was arrested for DWI following a roll-over accident.

New Paltz police responded to a 911 poll for an automobile accident on Route 299 in the early morning hours on February 4th, 2017.

Upon arrival, officers located an overturned vehicle partially in the roadway. The driver, a 23-year-old from Gardiner, NY had extricated himself from the vehicle, according to a press release.

While officers were investigating the accident, the driver showed signs of impairment. The driver was evaluated by the New Paltz Rescue Squad and asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests.

Based on the officer's observation and the results of the sobriety tests, the driver was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

He was charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI, and other vehicle and traffic infractions.

The driver was processed and released to a relative. He is due back in court later this month.
