A new airline is reportedly ready to take off from Stewart that will bring passengers to several European destinations, including a direct flight to Russia.

That's right, soon you could hop on a plane in Newburgh and fly directly to St. Petersburg. According to Mid Hudson News, the "Burgh to Burg" flight is just one of the routes being proposed by Baltia Airlines.

The airline is currently planning on re-branding, changing its name and setting up a hub at Stewart Airport that will take passengers throughout Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. The report says the company has already rented office space in Newburgh and will voting soon on the airline's name change.

The new "U.S. Global" airline would make their Newburgh hub the only American city offering direct flights to St. Petersburg, Russia.

As we previously reported, Norwegian Airlines will be offering cheap, direct flights to several European destinations from Newburgh starting this summer.

It's unknown how long it would take this new airline to start sending planes out of Newburgh, but we'll be sure to keep you posted.
