It isn't uncommon at all to see at least one dead deer by the side of the road while traveling about the Hudson Valley. it's just a way of life.

But what happens if you hit a deer and deer fights back?

That's what one New Jersey woman found out.

ABC 7 New York says the Howell, NJ woman had hit a deer, braked, and then continued driving for a short distance.

It just so happens that a Howell Township Police officer was responding to a call when he saw the struck vehicle. When he pulled up from behind to help, the deer suddenly ran to driver's side of the SUV and attacked the woman.

The incident was all captured on the officer's dash camera.

The 43 year-old woman was able to fight off the deer. The animal walked away and then eventually it succumbed to it's injuries and died on the side of the road.
