Officer Pulls Man to Safety Before Oncoming Train Zooms By [VIDEO]
This viral video of a transit officer pulling a suicidal man off of train tracks is quite incredible.
Victor Ortiz, a New Jersey Transit Officer, is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of a total stranger while putting his own life at risk.
Ortiz told CBS that he found the man on the tracks near Secaucus Junction. Ortiz said the disturbed man had gotten off the train and then laid down on the tracks to wait for the next train to run him over.
Ortiz couldn't allow this to happen, as he bravely struggled to get the man out of harm's way. The man wouldn't go without a fight, as he repeatedly told the officer to just let him die.
Ortiz was able to pull the unidentified man to safety right before the train went by.
New Jersey Transit said in a statement:
NJ TRANSIT could not be more proud of Victor Ortiz and of the New Jersey Transit Police Department and we hope this serves as a stark reminder of what these men and women do every single day to keep us safe throughout this state.
Awesome job, Officer Ortiz!
