Accidents are dangerous enough, but when tractor trailers overturn and spill their cargo all over a highway then things can really get crazy.

Especially when said cargo is one hundred and ten cows.

ABC 27 reports that the crash happened Monday afternoon on the southbound side on Interstate 283 near Swatara Township in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

Apparently, nine of the cows actually got loose, making the rescue even more difficult for first responders. Those nine cows were eventually caught and put in a nearby garage for safety.

Sadly, about half the cows inside the truck were killed or had to be euthanized due to their injuries from the wreck.

The crash was finally cleared by Monday evening. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The Pennsylvania State Police says the driver overturned on the I-283 ramp but did not appear to be speeding.
