Deep Purple’s Most Successful Album, Machine Head
This Sunday at 11 pm the WPDH Album of the Week will feature Deep Purple's most commercially successful album, Machine Head.
Released in March of 1972, Machine Head is Deep Purple's most commercially successful album, topping the charts in several countries. The album reached number one in the UK, spending 40 weeks on the charts.
The album reached number seven in the U.S. and stayed on the Billboard charts for 118 weeks.
Richie Blackmore, when speaking about Machine Head said:
Machine Head was recorded in about three weeks, everything was natural and it all worked. I didn't like Fireball very much because we were just working too much. But we had about a month off before Machine Head, which allowed me to get my head together and write some stuff
