An actress best known for her work on a CBS TV series from the 1970s and '80s is set to open a new Hudson Valley restaurant with her husband. The Register Star reports that Linda Levin, who played the title role of "Alice" on the classic show, is in the process of purchasing a piece of property on Route 23 in Claverack.

The property is currently in use as an antique shop and was once home to Yorkshire Farms Restaurant. The Star reports the property has not been a food establishment for five years or more.

Lavin and her husband Steve Bakunas own a home in Chatham in Columbia County and fell in love with the property after driving by sometime last year. The new name is expected to be Joe's Roadhouse Lounge after lawyers discouraged the use of the name "Alice" on copyright grounds.

Bakunas who also happens to be a carpenter, expects the restaurant to be open by September.
