The Ulster County District Attorney's Division of Consumer Affairs is reporting two new phishing emails that have hit consumer's inboxes.

Both email purport to be from major retailers, Amazon and Apple, and confirm a purchase. The thing is, there is no purchase.

The two emails count on the recipient to panic and overreact because they didn’t make the purchase. Consumers that received these emails should never respond using the links in the email.

These links might download malware to your device or it might take you to a website where you would be asked to provide your log-in information in order to see the phantom order.

Instead, go directly to the company's legitimate website, and contact customer service to confirm if the notification is a mistake or a scam.

Consumer Affairs can be reached at 340-3260.
