Being able to pick up the phone and dial 9-1-1 can save a life or bring comfort and help in an emergency. It's always there, and it's always a comfort knowing that help is a quick call away. This morning, however, some residents in Sullivan County aren't able to do that.

According to Sullivan County Director of Communications, Dan Hust, some residents, particularly in Mamakating, are only getting a busy signal when they dial 9-1-1. They also think that other Frontier exchanges in other areas are impacted as well.

Frontier Communications as well as Verizon have been notified about the problem and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Should you find yourself in need of emergency assistance while 9-1-1 is being repaired in these ares, please call 845-583-7100 to report an emergency. We will update you on this situation as more information becomes available.

Please, help spread the word so that everyone has the information they need.
