4th Hudson Valley Resident’s Life Saved From Overdose In 5 Days
In five days, local police have saved the lives of four Hudson Valley residents.
On Tuesday just after 10 a.m., Wallkill police responded to an “Emergency Medical Services” call at a home on Greencrest Drive in Wallkill.
Arriving officers, Thomas Santosuosso and Jonathan Kitsos, found a 44-year-old man from Bloomingburg unconscious on the couch in the residence. The man was unresponsive and demonstrating signs of an overdose, police say.
Officers delivered emergency first aid, including the use of department issued nasally delivered Narcan, a drug which is known to reverse the effects from an opioid overdose.
Within a brief period, the victim regained consciousness and was transported by Town of Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Orange Regional Medical Center.
Just three days earlier, Wallkill police used Narcan to revive a 56-year-old Wallkill woman.
On two separated occasions this past weekend, Friday and Sunday, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office used Narcan to save a man and woman. In both cases, heroin is the drug responsible for the overdoses, police say.
