A man who police say has been pleasuring himself in front of others in Thruway restrooms has finally been caught.

As we reported earlier this month, a man pictured in a photograph released by the New York State Police was observed committing a "lewd act" in a public bathroom. The incident allegedly happened on May 14 at the Plattekill Service Area on the New York State Thruway in Ulster County.

Amazingly, police say the man returned to the scene of the crime on June 8 and was witnessed pleasuring himself again at a urinal. This time, instead of snapping a picture, an eyewitness followed the masturbator to his car and reported his license plate to State Police.

The man was later spotted traveling north on I-87 near Catskill and pulled over for a traffic violation. Police interviewed the man, who was later identified by an eyewitness. Clifford J. Candida, 54, of Masspaequa was taken into custody and brought to Newburgh where he was charged with two counts of Public Lewdness; a class B misdemeanor and Exposure of a Person; a violation.

A Thruway employee later identified Candida as the same man who was caught on camera after masturbating near a public urinal at the same rest stop on May 14. Candida was released and will return to Town of Newburgh Court on June 25 to face the charges.
