A Hudson Valley man who is in the SUNY New Paltz Hall of Fame was killed in Florida.

Robert Miniger, 65, of Warwick was hit by a car while riding a bicycle on Bonita Beach Road in Fort Myers, Florida on Monday just before 2:30 p.m.

A 2012 Honda CRV, driven by a 72-year-old from Kentucky, changed lanes and violated a pickup truck's right-of-way, causing the back of the Honda to hit the left front side of the truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Honda then drove over the curb and hit Miniger as he rode his bicycle on the sidewalk. Miniger died at the scene, the Fort Myers New-Press reports.

Miniger is in the SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame.

He served as the Chair of the State University of New York at New Paltz Business Advisory Council's Internship Subcommitte, according to his hall of fame bio.

"Miniger has the unique ability to cause people to exceed their own capabilities and sees this as his primary accountability. He strives for excellence and believes in the endless potential of human beings," his hall of fame bio reads. "He is generous with his time, donating countless volunteer hours to the School of Business simply because it gives him joy to contribute to the School and our business students."

The crash remains under investigation.
