Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Parts of the Hudson Valley
Summer heat and humidity seem to be following us everywhere. This week we've had a Heat Advisory every day, including today until 7 pm. All week long, meteorologists have been talking about a cold front that would cool things off in time for the weekend.
It seems that the cold front is beginning to move through the Hudson Valley as the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Dutchess and Columbia Counties until 3 pm.
The radar picked up a severe thunderstorm over Saugerties, moving east at 25 mph. The danger with this storm is 60 MPH wind gusts and the chance of penny-sized hail. Communities in the path of this storm are being told to expect some to roofs, sidings, and trees.
If you find yourself in the path of this storm do not stay outdoors, move inside, preferably to an inside room on the lowest level of your home or building. The National Weather Service has also indicated that torrential rainfall is also happening with this storm which could lead to flash flooding. Should that occur we will let you know as soon as possible.
