The Route 32 bridge over the NYS Thruway will be closed to traffic while the work is completed.

The New York State Thruway Authority have announced that work will begin on a $4.8 million project to replace the State Route 32 Bridge over the Thruway (I-87) in Ulster County in the Town of Plattekill on Thursday.

The $4.8 million project includes replacement of the Route 32 overpass which carries 6,400 vehicles a day, with the new bridge that will have an anticipated lifespan of at least 75 years.

During construction, the Route 32 Bridge will be closed and traffic will be detoured via Route 300 and Forest Road. Variable Message Signs (VMS) and detour signs will be posted along the detour route.

The project also includes rehabilitation to the Union Avenue bridge in Orange County.

The closure and detour of Route 32 is scheduled to be lifted by the end of December 2017. All work associated with the projects is expected to be completed by the middle of May 2018.
