Popular Hudson Valley Daycare Will Abruptly Close Their Doors
With just a couple of weeks notice, a local daycare has announced to parents that they will need to find someone else to watch after their children.
Kiddie Academy on Main Street in Fishkill will officially close on Friday, October 27. A letter sent to parents explained that the lease for the building was not renewed and the business would no longer be in operation.
A 13-year employee of the daycare wrote on Facebook that she's "heartbroken" over the closure and is doing her best to help parents as they scramble for a new place to bring their children. A posting on the Dutchess County Yard Sale Facebook group lists items for sale from the soon-to-close daycare. Cribs, toys, furniture, kitchen equipment, office supplies and even outdoor swing sets are all being sold off.
In June it was announced that Children's Corner Learning Center in Wappingers Falls would be closing due to a similar issue with their lease. Soon after parents were informed of the closing, the daycare's corporate offices intervened and announced that the business would not, in fact, be shutting down. The confusion caused concern among parents, but in this case the story did have a happy ending.
As of now, there's no indication that Kiddie Academy will be changing their mind about the closure. Parents are now tasked with the job of finding alternate arrangements for their children.
