A Mahopac man, with prior drug convictions, allegedly sold heroin to a police officer. He was later found to be in possession of several narcotics.

In January, Putnam County Police developed information that a Mahopac resident was selling narcotics from his home on a regular basis. A deputy from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was allegedly able to make contact with the suspect on several occasions to purchase heroin at the home.

During the course of the investigation a search warrant was issued at the home located in the Lake Ossi area of Mahopac. Police allegedly found heroin, cocaine, MDMA pills, oxycodone pills, digital scales and cash inside the home.

21-year-old Kyle Novotny, was charged with two counts of 3rd-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, five counts of 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of 4th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and 5th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies.

Police say Novotny has prior criminal convictions for the selling and possessing drugs. He was arraigned at Town of Carmel Court and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility without bail pending a future court appearance.

If found guilty of the felony charges, the defendant could face 25 years in a New York State Correctional Facility and a fine of up to $30,000.00.
