NY College Goes on Lockdown After Light Saber Mistaken For Gun

A New York college went on lockdown after a report of a gun on campus. Turns out, the the gun was actually a light saber. 

Farmingdale State College on Long Island was placed on lockdown on Wednesday. Students and staff were told to "shelter in place", while police investigated a report of somebody assembling a rifle in a school parking lot.

Reported by the Record, a spokeswoman for the college said, it turned out to be a "Star Wars" toy. the college has roughly 8,700 students.

The lockdown was lifted after about an hour, when police determined that the person was only in possession of a toy light saber.

Nobody was injured and no arrests were made.
