What did you do on your summer vacation? While this is often the topic of a back-to-school writing assignment, seriously, what did you do?

If you and your family and friends visited any of New York's State Parks this summer, you helped make this one of the busiest summer seasons in quite a while. According to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, nearly 38.4 million visitors spent time at New York's state parks, historic sites, and campgrounds from Memorial Day through Labor day.

This is the biggest year in more than five years, and after the Governor's plan to improve and promote New York's State Parks with $900 million in both private and public funding from 2011 to 2020, it's an investment that seems to already be paying off.

There's another bonus for this year and that is extended swimming at various state parks now through September 18. With the temps and humidity on the raise for this weekend, this is welcome news. Click here to get locations and hours to keep your cool as the summer of 2016 winds down.
