Molinaro Signs Local Laws to Prevent Animal Cruelty
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro sign local law on Tuesday for the prevention of animal cruelty.
Dutchess County SPCA in Hyde Park, County Executive Marc Molinaro was joined by Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Gregg Pulver, Legislators Will Truitt and Tom Keith, DC SPCA Executive Director Lynne Meloccaro as well as representatives from numerous other local animal advocacy organizations as he signed two local laws for the prevention of animal cruelty.
Resolutions No. 2019205 and 2019204 were unanimously approved in a bipartisan vote of the Dutchess County Legislature at its August 13th Board meeting.
County Executive Molinaro said:
These two local laws will help prevent the mistreatment, abuse, and neglect of animals in Dutchess County. I applaud Chairman Gregg Pulver and the entire Dutchess County Legislature for their bi-partisan support of this meaningful legislation to safeguard the wellbeing of those that cannot speak for themselves
Resolution No. 2019205 establishes an animal abuse registry, restricting those who have committed serious animal welfare crimes to be banned from owning or residing with an animal for 15 years and be listed on the Dutchess County Sheriff’s website to restrict their ability to obtain an animal.
Resolution No. 2019204 establishes canine tethering regulations relating to shelter, weather conditions, length of time, and more to ensure the general welfare of the animal.
