It's the Great Pumpkin! A new record has been set and it happened right in the Empire State.

PIX 11 is reporting that a pumpkin grown in New York has set a new national record for the largest pumpkin ever grown in the United States. It also breaks the North American record as well. Just how big was this gourd we're talking about?

Previous State and National Record

The previous national record belonged to a man who grew a 2528-pounder at the Deerfield Fair in New Hampshire in 2018. The previous New York state record belonged to Karl and Beverly Haist, who grew a 2517-pound pumpkin in Clarence Center, NY in 2019.

World Record

The world record though still stands. Stefano Cutrupi set that record in 2021, with a 2702.7-pound squash at the Big Pumpkin Festival in Peccioli, Italy, according to the Guinness Book of World Records

Paid to Eat Candy?

This could have been the dream job for you, especially with Halloween not that far off. Perhaps you wanted to earn six figures, and can do it just by eating junk food? A candy company had an offer to pay someone to be their taste-tester and are willing to pay big bucks, according to Fox 5. Ever wanted to be a real-life Willie Wonka?

The Job

Fox 5 says that an online Canadian company called Candy Funhouse was looking for its very own first chief candy officer. The job description says that you'll be taste-testing more than 3,500 products a month. While this could ruin your diet, and potentially your overall health, Candy Funhouse is willing to pay you up to one hundred thousand per year. And all you'll need for job qualifications is to be at least 5 years old and live somewhere in North America, according to their advertisement.

Do you love all things candy and chocolate? Are you passionate about confectionary treats and exploring unreleased and existing products? If so, this is the PERFECT position for you!

But...

Candy Funhouse says that you can work from home, but first chief candy officers will have to move to either one of two locations; Toronto, or Newark, New Jersey. This will mean either going through the process of obtaining Canadian citizenship or having to live in Newark.

The offer was good until the end of August, though it is possible the company could always reopen the job position
