The amount of county tax that is being charged does vary by county and these are the rates that are going to be effective as of December 1, 2023, for Hudson Valley counties, the amounts listed are price per gallon.

  • Dutchess County, 3 3/4 cents per gallon
  • Columbia County, 4 cents per gallon
  • Ulster County, 4 cents per gallon
  • Putnam County, 4 cents per gallon
  • Orange County, 3 3/4 cents per gallon

Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
