The U.S. Military Academy at West Point is mourning the loss of a young cadet.

West Point Cadet Dies While on Leave

The U.S. Military Academy at West Point shared a statement on their social media accounts earlier this week mourning one of their own. In the statement, West Point explains that  21-year-old Cadet Havin Morris, from Pleasanton, Calif, died while on leave in Florida.

Lt. Gen. Steve Gilland, the Superintendent at West Point said in the statement:

Cadet Morris was a valued member of the Corps of Cadets, committed to serving his country as an Army Officer. The entire West Point Community offers our heartfelt condolences to the Morris family.

According to the police report, Cadet Morris' death appears to be an accident. The report goes on to call it an accidental drowning and " no foul play is suspected." No other information has been released at this time, but the Cadet's family has been notified.

Cadet Havin Morris was a part of the Class of 2024 at West Point and a member of Company G2.

Hudson Valley Ties to Miami Double Murder

Sadly, the Hudson Valley and Florida had another tie-in last week as it was discovered that a murder victim was from the region.

Recent college grad, and collegiate hockey player, 23-year-old Sidney Capolino of Pawling, NY was found dead in her Miami, Florida apartment that she shared with former teammate 25-year-old Meghan Moore.

Both Capolino and Moore were found shot to death, allegedly at the hands of 40-year-old Luis Napoles. Moore and Napoles were rumored to have had romantic relations at one point.

Napoles was also found in the apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
