Windham, NY Plane Crash Victim Recently Helped Local Hudson Valley Dog Rescue

The dog rescue community is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Plane Crash in Windham, NY Leaves 1 Dead

The Greene County Sheriff's Office shared the unfortunate news earlier this week that a plane crash claimed the life of the pilot and a dog on board.

In the early morning hours of Monday, November 25th, 2024, the Green County Sheriff's Office explained they were investigating a a plane crash that occurred at "approximately 6:10pm on November 24 in a remote location in the Town of Windham."

The Mooney M20J was flying to Albany from Maryland and carrying a pilot and 3 dogs. The FAA was also responding to the scene for the investigation.

Windham Plane Crash Victim Identified as Dog Rescue Pilot From Virginia

Hours later The Greene County Sheriff's Office identified the pilot as 49-year-old Seuk Kim of Springfield, Virginia. Kim was found deceased at the scene as well as one of the dogs on board.

Another dog was found alive, but suffering from 2 broken legs. That dog was later taken by Hyer Ground Rescue to the Capital District Veterinary Hospital.

The second dog was located a short time later with minor injuries and was taken to Partners for Animal Welfare.

Deceased Pilot Recently Helped Local Dutchess County Dog Rescue

As word spread of the passing of Seuk Kim, the dog rescue community shared their experiences with Kim.

One of those dog rescues was The Incredible Pups Pet Rescue which is local here to the Hudson Valley. 

On social media, The Incredible Pups Pet Rescue wrote "It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Seuk Kim, a beloved animal lover, skilled pilot, and valued partner in the rescue works."

They add that they meet Kim a few weeks back when he brought a dog named Steve to their group.

The post goes on to say:

Seuk’s generosity and dedication to saving lives touched countless hearts, flying pups all along the east coast to their forever homes.

 

His kindness and impact will never be forgotten. To his family and friends, we extend our deepest condolences. Seuk’s legacy will live on in every life he helped save.
