A local woman was hurt after an accident that occurred Monday evening.

While the incident happened earlier this week, details have been made public by officials about what happened that day in Ulster County, NY. Several rescue agencies assisted the woman, who sources say was seriously injured after the freak accident.

The Ulster County Sheriff's Office said on their Facebook page that the 59-year-old Middletown, NY woman was hang gliding in the Town of Wawarsing when she suffered the accident. A preliminary investigation says the woman crashed against a piece of heavy equipment while she was attempting to land. The Sherriff's Office says she was taken to Westchester Medical Center by helicopter for treatment.

A full investigation is still ongoing.

It was there that the Sheriff's Office said that the suspect used their vehicle to sideswipe and then ram the Deputy's patrol vehicle.

The suspect was later found during a manhunt and taken into custody. An investigation into the matter continues.
