A lower Hudson Valley woman was shot after she attacked police when they went to her home for a domestic call.

On Saturday, April 28, Mamaroneck Police responded to a domestic call in Westchester County. According to The New York Times, a woman called the police to her home in Mamaroneck on Chestnut Avenue. When the police arrived, her toddler daughter was found unconscious and authorities were unable to revive her. The toddler was 2-and-a-half-years-old.

The toddler's mother was wielding a knife and attacked two of the police officers that were called to the home. According to NBC New York, the mother was shot after disobeying multiple verbal commands from police to show her hands. The mother injured 2 police officers, who were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive. The condition of the mother was not made public.

The cause of the death of the toddler is unknown at this time, according to both articles.
