ShopRite has just named their new company president, and he happens to be from right here in the Hudson Valley.

Brett Wing started his career in the supermarket industry working as a bag boy for Safeway. With hard work and determination, Wing continued his climb to the top through promotions to executive positions within the supermarket business. The new president has worked for Save Mart and spent 25 years with Cub Foods before arriving at ShopRite just two years ago, serving as executive vice president.

Wing lives in Warwick with his wife Toni and their three sons. Now, this Hudson Valley resident is in charge of 34 ShopRite Supermarkets in New Jersey and New  York. The company is just one of the brands owned by Wakefern Food Corp, which operates hundreds of supermarkets throughout the northeast including ShopRite, Price Rite and Dearborn Market.

The previous president of SRS, Dave Figurelli, retired this month after 15 years with the company. Joe Colalillo, the chairman and CEO of Wakefern, issued his praise for Wing in a company press release:

Brett is uniquely qualified to take the reins at SRS and move the company forward in a challenging and competitive environment. He has spent his career in the supermarket business and brings to SRS a broad and deep knowledge of the industry.

The Warwick resident is also a board member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and a former United Way chairman.
