So, Sunday is our day for the weekly grocery store trip where we stock up on everything we need for the long week ahead.

This week, however, we stumbled upon something rather peculiar when we picked out some eggs.

We found these eggs that came from a local spot called Ace Farm in Monroe. Supporting local business is good, plus we got them on sale as well. Win-win.

Nothing really seemed out of the ordinary at first, until we got home to prepare some egg sandwiches for brunch. That's when we noticed the farm's slogan on the box.

For Babies, Invalids, and Particular People.

Huh?

This caught me off guard, but I definitely had a laugh. Babies and invalids? Particular people?  Who are these particular people? So many unanswered questions.

This almost sounds like some sort of advertising you might have heard in the early 1900s.

Well, that may be the case as it looks like our friends at Ace have been operating in Orange County since 1917. It was started by a couple named Alfred C, and Elizabeth Tyler Etzel. According to their Facebook page, Alfred focused on goats while his wife tended the chickens.

The farm is still open to this day. According to their Facebook page, they've got everything from farm fresh eggs and local honey, to landscaping materials such as topsoil, mulch, compost, straw and manure.

Still though, the slogan. What's the story behind that? Is it a joke?

I took it to Google and only found a Reddit post from 2010, where one equally confused individual asked the same question about the same eggs from the same farm. The account appears to have since been deleted without ever receiving an answer.
