The co-founders of Ben & Jerry's were arrested on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on Monday. 

Jerry Greenfield and Ben Cohen were among some 300 activists that were arrested on Monday, part of the protests for the Democracy Awakening's direct action on the steps to the U.S. Capitol building.

According to the ice cream company's website, the purpose of the protests is to make sure everybody's voice is heard, and that the power in this country is returned to the people.

Those arrested were charged with crowding, obstructing or incommoding, which is unlawful demonstration activity. they were processed on the scene and released.

More than 1,200 people have been arrested since the protests began April 11th.
