You may remember the viral video from last year showing a police sergeant, from New York state, slapping a man in his car. The video, which was taken using a cellphone...also shows the officer angrily cursing at the suspect, then taking his car keys, and then searching the vehicle he was driving at the time. The now former sergeant from that video faced his penalty on Tuesday. Shawn Glans, formerly of Saratoga County Sheriff's Department, pleaded guilty to one count of harassment and one count of official misconduct following an investigation prompted by the video of the encounter. He was sentenced to a 1-year order of protection and more than $1,240 in fines and fees.

According to CBS 6 Albany, Glans and two other deputies were responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle. The officers arrived, only to find that the vehicle was gone. They later tracked the vehicle down, which was in a parking lot of a nearby Walmart. Sgt. Glans reported seeing a gun in the backseat. 20-year old Colin Fitch, who was the owner of the car and gun, was not charged. it was later determined that the gun had been purchased legally.
