Hudson Valley fans of the PBS series "Downton Abbey" are closer to their favorite characters than they think.

Tourists from near and far have been flocking to Staatsburg to step back in time and take a peek at the real-life counterparts to the characters portrayed on "Downton Abbey." Mills Mansion is offering special tours led by costumed guides that bring visitors up close and personal to the storylines they've been following on TV.

The "Downton Abbey" themed tours show exactly how the servants lived and worked. Visitors can catch a glimpse of exactly what preparations were made at the mansion to receive guests and host a weekend of entertaining for the rich and famous.

Much like the character Cora, the daughter of the Mills family was also married into the British aristocracy, drawing even more parallels between the show and the history of the iconic Staatsburg mansion.

The next Downton Abbey themed tours are scheduled for February 27 at 1pm and April 2 at 1pm. Admission is just $10 per person, but the tours have been filling up extremely fast. If you want to secure your spot, you should make reservations in advance at (845) 889-8851.
