Did You Know You Can Spend The Night in This Local Lighthouse?

If you've always dreamed of living in a lighthouse, you can actually sleep in one right here in the Hudson Valley.

Recently I found out that a lighthouse sitting right on the Hudson River also serves as a bed and breakfast, allowing visitors the chance to spend the night. The Saugerties Lighthouse was originally built in 1835 and used until 1954 to guide ships up and down the Hudson River.

Completely restored, the lighthouse is once again operational and has been preserved to look just as it might have been back in the 1800s. Guests can stay in one of two rooms that face either the Catskills or the Hudson River. One thing potential guests should note is that there is only one bathroom for everyone to share. The innkeepers warn that while the tub does have hot and cold running water it's "not so hot in the winter." Also, there is just one composting toilet since the lighthouse is so remotely located.

The price to spend a night is $250, which also includes breakfast. If you're interested in staying, you will probably need to make reservations far in advance. A recent check of the lighthouse's website showed the nearest vacancy to be in November. But, we also found that the website has not bee updated in quite a while, so you should probably call for more information.
