David Bowie's first big screen performance from 1967's 'The Image' has been unearthed.

'The Image', is a short horror film screened between two porno films in a London theatre in 1967. Michael Armstrong, the director of the film released the footage nearly 50 years after it was produced. Bowie was cast, because the film makers were fans of his music. Bowie was paid 10 quid a day ($14.20).

The film, which is 14 minutes in length, shows an artist who paints a portrait of a man who looks like David Bowie. Then Bowie appears as the physical manifestation of the man on canvas. The artist kills the figure continually, but Bowie keeps returning to haunt the artist.

According to Rolling Stone, Bowie stopped by London theatres when the film screened in 1967, and said that the horror film confused the audience who was expecting to see porn. Bowie found that hilarious.
