After a fire that threatened the future of the popular club in Pawling, they've reopened their doors.

Good news everybody!

After getting approval from the inspectors, we are open for business tonight (Wednesday). Special thanks to: PFD District Fire Chief Everett White, Pawling's Fire Marshal Ron Gallagher and Pawling Building Inspector Carl Ellis for giving us the thumbs up for reopening on time.

And also a heartfelt thanks to our friends and fans who offered their support during the repairs. Fans of ours came to the club and power washed some of the debris this morning. Also some of the fans brought food for our staff while they were working. You guys are the best. - Daryl

The club boasts all sorts of big names and artists with devoted cult followings; this Summer and early Autumn alone, they've announced reggae icons The Wailers, the Edgar Winter Group, Leon Russell, the English Beat, guitar legend Dick Dale, Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, and a personal favorite of mine, Canadian power-pop act Sloan.

But all of this really makes me think about the show from which the club's name was derived: Live From Daryl's House. On MTV Live (the former Palladia), the show features Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates fame, and his excellent band collaborating with random artists. Everyone from Fitz and the Tantrums, Aloe Blacc, and Neon Trees to Jason Mraz and Train have come through. I always think about how cool it would be to see a show at the Daryl's House Club and see that same type of collaboration happen, with Daryl himself taking the stage.

Somehow he and his band, through sheer artistry and musical prowess, can seamlessly blend with a very, very wide range of different styles as they play the songs of the featured artists, Hall and Oates songs, and covers of classics. It's almost like an Unplugged or VH1 Storytellers vibe, where you get to see the songs at their core.

With that in mind, here are some artists that I'm outraged haven't been on Live From Daryl's House yet:

Slayer

Please. Kerry King and the craziest metal songs you've ever heard in your life collaborating with the dude who wrote "You Make My Dreams Come True?" THAT would be making my dreams come true.

Ice Cube

I would pay ungodly sums of money to watch Daryl Hall and Ice Cube perform the Death Certificate album in its entirety. Well, I would have to rob a bank or something to acquire the ungodly sums of money first, so maybe this isn't a great idea.

Radiohead

Now, admittedly, I'm not as big a Radiohead fanatic as I once was. It's nothing against their band or their new music, and I know that's sacrilege and blasphemy to many, but for some reason they've fallen off my radar. But watching Jonny Greenwood and his weird modular boxes and things he plugs in and out and theremins and whatever other craziness he uses on stage blend seamlessly with Daryl Hall's band--because they would find a way to blend seamlessly along with it, if anyone can--would be amazing.

Well, there you have it. A beloved rock club in the Hudson Valley is safe and now you can fantasize about Slayer covering "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" with Daryl and his band. You're welcome.
