CC Sabathia Wants to Stay With the Yankees After Next Season
Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia will enter the final year of his contract in 2017.
I know I want to pitch after next year, but I haven't thought about where or what. Hopefully it will be here. We'll see.
I feel like this is just the beginning of what I'm trying to do. I feel like there's a lot more still to learn and a lot better to get. It's exciting.
Sabathia isn't quite the power pitcher he used to be. In twenty nine starts in 2016, he's 8-12 with a 4.02 ERA. There's been a number of factors he's had to deal with too, including injuries, a lack of run support from his own team, and a stint in alcohol rehab in 2015.
Aside from being on the 15 day disabled list with a minor groin pull in may, Sabathia has remained healthy and focused for the season.
Now, the 36 year-old looks ahead. According to him, he wants to stay in pinstripes for at least a few more years.
Of course, both Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira said they had long term plans with Yankees but that all changed, so we'll have to wait and see.
