$19 Million Spent to Renovate Rundown ‘Bug Infested’ New Paltz Dorm
After complaints from students over horrid living conditions, New York State has completed a $19 million renovation of a rundown SUNY New Paltz dorm.
Last spring we reported on complaints from SUNY New Paltz students about mice, bedbugs and plumbing issues that made living conditions unbearable at the on-campus dorm. Now it seems that those problems are all in the past, at least for students living at one residence hall.
According to the New York Real Estate Journal, Bevier Hall has undergone a major facelift including a new roof, windows and doors. The bathrooms have also been completely redone, there have been major upgrades to common areas and much needed improvements to the building's plumbing and heating systems.
Some new amenities were also included in the project, like water bottle filling stations, upgraded WiFi, bike racks and a new elevator.
This is the third dorm on the SUNY New Paltz campus that has received a much needed upgrade. The Crispell and Lefevre residence halls have already undergone a makeover. There's no word if Bliss Hall, which was reportedly overrun by mice and bedbugs, will be up next.
