Whatever Happened to Carrols Restaurant?

If you grew up in the Hudson Valley you probably remember Carrols.

The restaurant chain had several locations in the Hudson Valley throughout 1960s and 1970s. Fans of the fast food joint fondly remember Carrols' legendary club burgers and shakes.

Sadly, all of the Carrols restaurants disappeared from the Hudson Valley in 1976. The least popular locations closed, while the rest were converted into Burger King restaurants. According to Wikipedia, one independently owned  Carrols in Batavia, NY continued to operate well into the 1980's. However, when that location closed it signaled the end of Carrols forever.

But back in the day, Carrols was the place to go for fast food in the Hudson Valley. Originally a small restaurant in Syracuse, additional Carrols locations popped up throughout New York State in the 1960s. Anyone who moved into the area after the 80s probably has no idea what Carrols even is.

During a conversation about now-extinct food items, the Carrols club burger was mentioned as one of those foods from the past that radio listeners would love to bring back from the dead.

With television bringing back canceled shows like Roseanne and Will & Grace, maybe it's not too far-fetched to think that someone would be able to resurrect Carrols.
