There will be a break from this heat and humidity, but we’ll have to go through more heat and humidity to get there.  The warm and muggy air continues for Wednesday. Another heat advisory has been issued for the Hudson Valley beginning at 12pm and going until 8pm.  It will be even hotter on Wednesday, as heat index values go up near 100.  Thursday won’t be much better; the humidity will still be an issue.

The break comes Thursday night and Friday as a cold front sweep through the region.  Showers and thunderstorms are expected along this front, but on the other side, much cooler and less humid weather.  Mid 70’s for Friday and low 70’s by Sunday.

Here’s the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:

Wednesday:  Patchy fog early, otherwise, sunny and hot.  A high near 90, with heat index values near 99.

Wednesday night:  Partly cloudy, low around 72.

Thursday:  Partly sunny, a chance of showers and thunderstorms.  High near 89, heat index values as high as 97.

Friday:  A slight chance of showers, mostly cloudy.  High near 77.
