Sullivan County Campground Resort Owner Charged With Forgery
The owner of a campground resort in Sullivan County, and Newburgh resident allegedly altered a government document.
On Friday October 6, detectives from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office arrested Jennifer Colaiacomo, 43, of the Town of Newburgh for two counts of Forgery in the second degree, a Class D felony.
Colaiacomo is the owner Bethel Hideaway Campground Resort , in the Swan Lake section of the Town of Bethel.
It is alleged that Colaiacomo altered a noise permit that was issued by the Town of Bethel for an event that took place at the campground in August.
The permit was an official government document. The alleged alterations extended the hours of operation and added dates beyond those originally approved by the town board.
Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff said:
The alterations were meant to deceive law enforcement officers who responded to noise complaints at the campground. Aside from affecting the neighbors, this placed the members of the Bethel Town Board in a very bad position with the public.
Colaiacomo was issued appearance tickets and released. She is due back in court later this month.
