State Police Warn of Latest Scam

The New York State Police are warning people of the latest telephone scam. 

According to a press release, the State Police are investigating several complaints of a telephone scam in which the caller threatens to cause physical harm to a  loved one, unless money is sent.

This is not the first time we've heard about a scam like this, as it is very common. This type of scam usually involves a stranger calling the scam victim and informs them that a loved one has been in an accident or kidnapped.

These calls are usually threatening in nature, and the caller demands money to be sent out of the United States or their loved one will be harmed.

Officials stress that any member of the public who receives one of these scam calls or who has been victimized should call and report the incident to their local policing agency.
